FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 17, 2014

BALTIMORE, MD – Jon Cardin, Democratic State Delegate and candidate for Maryland Attorney General, released a campaign video today highlighting his leadership and vision on issues of protecting Maryland’s environment. Click here to view Jon's full environmental rights video.

In a statement, Cardin said, “I got into politics to protect the Bay. Making sure we all drink clean water and breath clean air is my passion, and I practice what I preach. I have been a leader on encouraging green energy, recycling, and environmentally friendly habits like biking to work. As Attorney General, cleaning up the Bay will continue to be a top priority.”

In the video, Senator Ben Cardin says that Jon “knows the importance of our environment for our community…he has really taken on issues to protect our environment…he really understands it [the environment],makes a difference, and knows our responsibility.”

As a result of Cardin’s work on protecting the environment, all of Maryland’s State buildings are now required to recycle. As the chairman of the Maryland Bicycle Caucus, he has successfully advocated for a more bicycle friendly Maryland which has resulted in increased bike lanes across the State and a three foot passing law to protect bicyclists on the roads. Finally, Jon has pledged to increase staffing in the Attorney General’s Office’s Environmental Crimes Unit from 5 people back to 12 where staffing was less than ten years ago.

A recent Opinion Works poll published by the Baltimore Sun on June 9, 2014 found Cardin leading nearest Democratic rival by 10 points.
