Shahab Qarni of the GBMC said in a statement, "Jon Cardin understands that all faiths must be treated equally under the law. We should all be guaranteed the right to practice and thrive. As Attorney General, Jon Cardin will continue to ensure equal rights under the law."

Qarni continued, "The Muslim community is particularly impressed by Jon Cardin's pledge to work with law enforcement authorities to stamp out racial profiling. Specifically, he has stated he will refuse to defend criminal appeals cases tainted by racial profiling. As a religious and ethnic group too often targeted for profiling, our community is very appreciative of Jon Cardin's stand against bigotry.

Qarni concluded, "The Islamic community in Baltimore owns and operate many small businesses in the area. Jon Cardin has always been supportive of small businesses in Maryland whether in passing an anti-patent troll bill, fighting for fairness in our regulatory climate or advocating for reduction in red tape. We know that as Attorney General Jon Cardin will help improve our business climate, add jobs and enlarge our tax base."
