Restoring faith in government

With the national deficit in the trillions, fiscal responsibility is everyone’s problem and reducing government spending means making tough decisions. Maryland’s diverse population makes cutting the budget especially difficult. Jon knows that the task ahead is a difficult one but he is prepared to cut, reform, streamline, simplify, reduce, inform, and lead.

Recovering from the recession means making smarter choices to eliminate waste and improve efficiency in state and local government. Jon fought for big issues such as repealing the death penalty and small issues such as increasing recycling at state office buildings, both of which save the government millions of dollars per year. Recently Jon sponsored legislation to reform the speed camera systems of Maryland that cost the state a substantial amount while burdening citizens with erroneously issued tickets. Jon believes that people should be able to trust that their government is not wasting tax-dollars and he supports legislation to improve government efficiency in all areas.
